What kind of financial help is available?

 

  1. Shasta Grants
  2. Sequoia Grants
  3. AFAM zero-interest loan (prêt d’honneur de l'AFAM) for J1 and F1 holders
  4. Financial help offered by la SOCE and la Fondation (Louis Magne grant, loans etc)



For more information on these financial aids:


1. Shasta grants

Any Arts et Métiers student coming to the US for an internship may apply for AFAM financial support (Shasta Grant). Maximum amount of a Shasta grant is $4,000/student.

Conditions for application (all documents should be submitted in English)

  • Being currently enrolled as a student of Arts et Metiers.

  • Having an approved internship in the US – with approved VISA (J1).

  • A formal request for a financial support has to be sent to Community Manager.
    It must include the following information:

    • Resume
    • Description of the internship – including approval from the company providing internship
    • Accepted visa receipt
    • Motivation for the internship / financial support request
    • Two character references, attesting to the honesty, integrity, and earnestness of the applicant
    • An engagement of providing updated feedback to the board
    • A preliminary budget (you can ask a community manager for a template)
    • Any other public aid should be disclosed in the application and the preliminary budget (aid from MESR or any other la SOCE financial help)
  • Approval from a decisional committee delegated by the AFAM board empowered to make recommendation to assign – or not – a financial support upon request.
  • AFAM board formal vetting based on a decisional committee to the board.

2. Sequoia grants

There are 2 types of Sequoia grants:

 

  1. Sequoia grant #1 (covering applications fees)

 

Eligibility:

  • Sequoia grant is available for Sequoia candidates only (A&M students and alumni enrolled in Sequoia program).
  • Sequoia grant #1 is not available for parcours US students

Amount:

Sequoia Grant #1 is up to $500/ Sequoia candidate, limited to 10 Sequoia candidates/year.

 

Documents for application:

 

- Receipts of application fees should be provided to AFAM community manager for this grant




  1. Sequoia grant #2 ( covering installation fees).

 

Eligibility:

  • Sequoia grant is available for Sequoia candidates (A&M students and alumni enrolled in Sequoia program).
  • Sequoia grant #2 is also available for parcours US students ( if they did not obtain Louis Magne grant).

 

Amount:

Sequoia Grant #2 is up to $5000/candidate.

 

Documents for application:



  • University acceptance letter
  • Accepted visa receipt ( you can send it as soon as you receive it)
  • Financial support request/ motivation
  • An engagement of providing updated feedback to the Sequoia committee and/or engagement for volunteering as a Sequoia Coach in the future
  • A preliminary budget (you can ask a community manager for a template). Any other public aid should be disclosed in the application and the preliminary budget (any SOCE financial help)


All documents should be in English. Please send all the documents to AFAM community manager to apply for this grant.

 

3. AFAM zero-interest loan (prêt d’honneur de l'AFAM) for J1 and F1 holders

Any Arts et Métiers student coming to the US for an internship or studies (exchange semester or parcours US) may apply for a zero-interest loan. Maximum amount of a loan is $4,000/student. The loan must be reimbursed latest by the end of the internship for interns, or by the end of third year of professional life for studies in the USA. Additional donation to support AFAM’s mission is encouraged.

 

Conditions for application:

  • Being currently enrolled as a student of Arts et Metiers.
  • A commitment to providing updated feedback to the board
  • A provisional budget (you can ask a community manager for a template)

 
4. Financial help offered by la SOCE and la Fondation (Louis Magne grant, loans etc.)
