The International Relations team at Arts et Métiers ParisTech is presently visiting top-ranked American Universities in the US in order to reinforce partnerships in research and education. Participating in this 11 day visit (Feb 20 to March 1) are Prof. Jean Marie Castelain (Deputy General Director in charge of International Affairs at Arts et Metiers ParisTech), Audrey Stewart (Head of International Office), Dr. Marc Lassagne (Scientific and academic coordinator for partnerships in the US), and myself, Rizlene Bouchemoua, Arts et Métiers Representative in the US.

Meetings and discussions with Chairs of departments, researchers and graduate admissions officers are being organized in 6 top American universities:

  • MIT (Boston)
  • New York University (New York)
  • Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta)
  • UC Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara)
  • UC Berkeley (Berkeley)
  • Stanford University (Stanford)

In terms of student mobility, our objective over the next 4 years is 200 students on mobility to the US each year, 100 in MSc programs top universities and 100 in internship programs. We are building on research collaboration or interest from researchers at Arts et Métiers in order to reinforce partnerships with universities, our role being to facilitate these collaborations.

Arts et Métiers now offers a full 2 year MSc program in English, so we are also promoting this to US universities during the visit.

Our strategy is ambitious but we strongly believe that research is the key to successful and fruitful collaborations for the future.

On January 7, Eric Didier hosted our "Galettes des Rois" event in his office. More than 20 people attended it and we all had a wonderful time. Moreover, the homemade "Galettes des Rois" made by Aurore and Jean Prevot were delicious.

Thank you so much for your presence!

We are delighted to welcome our first permanent Arts et Metiers ParisTech Representative in the US, Rizlene Bouchemoua. She started with us on December 1st. Here is, in her own words, her introduction to the Arts et Metiers community in the US ...

"... I just got hired as the permanent Arts et Metiers ParisTech Representative in the United States. I work in San Francisco between PRIME company (Paris Region International Mission Enterprise) and Benhamou Global Ventures to promote our school to both students, universities, and companies.

My principal objectives are the following:

  • Ensure a permanent link between Arts et Metiers ParisTech and its current and prospective partner universities. Above all, we are willing to strengthen our relationships with UC Berkeley (partnership agreement signed in February 2011), MIT, and Georgia Tech. In that subject, Audrey Stewart (Head of International Relations office), Jean Marie Castelain (Deputy General Director in charge of International Relations), Marc Lassagne (Responsible of our Academic and Scientific Relations with American universities) and I are planning to go visit some American universities in February. As well, after that date, I will do some visits by myself.
  • Promote Arts et Metiers ParisTech's graduate programs in order to attract high level students. Since September, Arts et Metiers ParisTech has created a Masters of Science program for foreign students. This new program is accessible with a Bachelor's degree and allow students to choose from a wide selection of specializations in Science and Technology. In return, we would like to send more Arts et Metiers ParisTech students study in the United States.
  • Help Arts et Metiers ParisTech students find internships in the US. We hope to get more industrial and research internships for our students.
  • Be the connection for Arts et Metiers Paris Tech students in the US. I will be glad to anwer students questions about the visa process, the accomodation, the life here...If you have any question, do not hesitate to email me!
  • Participate in the AFAM missions. I will take care of the AFAM website, participate in AFAM fundraising efforts, organize the AFAM dinners...

On December 1, the Paris Tech alumni association hosted an appetizers & dancing party in the office of PRIME & L'Atelier BNP San Francisco. Participants included Xavier Wartelle (PRIME General Manager), Arts et Metiers ParisTech students/interns at UC Berkeley...

This was a great success and we all had a very enjoyable evening !! Around 100 people attended this event. It was an excellent opportunity to gather together, to meet new people and to strengthen our community.

Thank you so much for your presence, we are already thinking of throwing another party soon!
