On October 18th at the French Consulate in New York City, Arts et Metiers Paristech alumni were extremely pleased to participate in an event organized by the AAGEF. AAGEF (American Associations of Grandes Ecoles de France - www.aagef.org) regroups the most prestigious French Grandes Ecoles. Despite restricted attendance, 18 schools were represented. AFAM's presence was strongly noticed with 9 alumni (7 of whom are the happy campers in the following photo). Our thanks to all the Alumni who participated, to all our French Grandes Ecoles friends who were there with us, to the Consul General who was a remarkable host, and of course to the AAGEF for inviting us and making this event a success. While the AFAM has not yet formally joined AAGEF, our application is in the final stages of review by the AAGEF board. Together, we look forward to help improve our relationships with other Grandes Ecoles represented in the US, and to boost our social and professional agendas for the benefit of our members.

The Arts et Métiers Entrepreneurship study tour team publishes its report of their visit completed in June 2010 (see earlier news posting on June 17, 2010). The report may be found on www.aeam2010.com/blog. The report was coordinated by Philippe ARNAUD, who sent us the following note: "... I arrived August 2nd in Kansas City MO, I work for Certainteed Saint Gobain at their fiberglass manufactury. I am a project engineer on the training program for operators. I'll be there until July 2011. ..." AFAM is proud to have contributed to the success of this trip undertaken by the most promising entrepreneurs of this generation of Arts et Metiers ParisTech graduates.
This month (June 2010), a delegation of 17 Arts et Metiers ParisTech students (recently graduated) and 3 professors will undertake an entrepreneurship study tour in Silicon Valley. The trip will include visits to Stanford University, U.C. Berkeley, and several large and small technology companies headquartered in the region. The objectives of the tour are to strengthen the links between our school and some leading universities, to deepen the understanding that students have about entrepreneurship and stimulate their own entrepreneurial ambitions, and to develop expanded internship opportunities for Arts et Metiers ParisTech students. The group is lead by Philippe Arnaud, and the web site that will chronicle their visit can be found at http://www.aeam2010.com/blog/project-overview/. AFAM is proud to be a sponsor of this project and will host the delegation in Silicon Valley on June 24, 2010....

We are very grateful to him for making available to us these services at no charge. This collaboration is consistent with our mutual goal to leverage the critical mass of all ParisTech alumni in North America and promote the ParisTech brand...
